THELMA in the Conference “Trauma-Informed Justice for Women: Possibilities and Pitfalls” - University of Greenwich

On May 21, 2026, as part of THELMA’s activities, we attended the conference “Trauma-Informed Justice for Women: Possibilities and Pitfalls”, organised by the Institute for Inclusive Communities & Environments at the University of Greenwich.

The conference format was particularly effective, with roundtable seating that encouraged interaction among participants, followed by group discussion sessions after the panel presentations.

A wide range of important projects were presented, sharing findings from countries such as Australia, England, and Poland on issues related to gender-based violence, trauma, and access to justice.

One of the most powerful moments of the conference was a performance by a group of women from Dance United Yorkshire, a charity that uses contemporary dance to promote social inclusion by connecting marginalised communities with professional dance. Their joy and sense of achievement at the end of the performance were truly touching.
